ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT MADE POSSIBLE THROUGH

VIRTUAL AND CLASSROOM CONNECTIONS

We are pleased to present the comprehensive Novel Study program for Celestial Prophecy, an odyssey adventure inspired by significant events, people, and places from the 4th and 5th centuries; this program incorporates content well-aligned with a thematic curriculum that includes English Language Arts, Social Studies, History, Science, and Geography. The storyline, centered on Moorish royals of Nigerian descent, highlights the historical events and places in West Africa, Mesoamerica, the Far East, and the Roman Empire, which continue to shape the world today.

THE VALUE OF NOVEL STUDIES FOR

MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

Celestial Prophecy, featuring real-world locations and historical figures, was crafted with its use as an educational modality in mind. While the central storyline is an epic adventure, its characters are the heart of the story, where the human prism of successes, conflicts, relationships, and triumphs are on full display. Readers will connect with the characters—many of whom they will see in themselves, and therefore, feel motivated to learn and engage in this interactive medium.

Novel learning provides an engaging and authentic approach that allows students to analyze characters, setting, conflict, imagery, and language while immersing them in a character-driven adventure

VIRTUAL AND CLASSROOM USE WHILE MEETING

COMMON CORE STATE STANDARDS (CCSS).

While literary fiction fosters cultural understanding, theory of mind, and empathy, the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) do not encompass these qualities. Literary fiction enhances skills such as critical thinking, inferencing, fluency, and information synthesis that are necessary for CCSS. The Educator’s Resource Guide combines fiction and a Novel Learning Curriculum (NLC) as platforms that, when used together, yield measurable results.

To share the impact of Novel Learning: During the 2014-2015 academic years, a fourth-grade teacher from the Indianapolis School District implemented the Novel Learning Curriculum as the method for English Language Arts. Within 162 days of using the tool,

the class AYP average increased by an impressive 207%, with the two highest gains rising by 440% and 487%, respectively.

We invite educators, students, and parents to join our academic journey through Celestial Prophecy, a program dedicated to academic excellence.

By reading texts in history, social studies, science, and other disciplines, students build a foundation of knowledge in these fields, which also provides them with the background to become better readers across all content areas. Students can only gain this foundation when the curriculum is intentionally and coherently structured to develop rich content knowledge within and across grades. Students also develop the habit of reading closely and independently, which is essential to their future success (Common Core State Standards Initiative, June 2, 2010).
